Join the INORDS Lab at Mississippi State University! We are seeking two dedicated PhD students for newly funded NSF projects starting in Spring 2026. Our focus is on developing an Agent-Based Modeling (ABM) decision-support system to enhance resilience and promote fair-to-all solutions in hazard-prone areas.

Key Qualifications:
– Proficiency in simulation modeling and operations research.
– Familiarity with Agent-Based Modeling, especially AnyLogic.
– Experience in spatial data analysis using tools like ArcGIS\/QGIS and handling geospatial datasets (e.g., SafeGraph, FEMA, NOAA).
– Familiarity with data acquisition, web scraping, and data integration for hazard-related information.
– Strong command of Python for modeling, simulation, and machine learning tasks.
– Knowledge of optimization techniques, decision sciences, and risk analysis.
– Familiarity with AI\/ML applications (e.g., Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL), Bayesian inference, CNNs) for hazard detection and decision-making.
– Passion for interdisciplinary work merging engineering, data science, and community resilience.
– Collaborative spirit and adeptness in conveying complex findings to diverse audiences.
