Successful applicants will be financially supported as a teaching assistant or a research assistant, contingent on satisfactory performance. To become a successful applicant (and receive financial support), you are expected to have the following background and skills:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A bachelor\/master&#8217;s degree in GIScience, remote sensing, computer science, information science, or related field before the official enrollment (Aug 2026).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Great passion for GIScience and GeoAI research.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiar with one programming language, e.g., Java, C++, or Python.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiar with one spatial analysis and mapping tool, e.g., ArcGIS or QGIS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research experience in machine learning and AI would be a plus, but is not required.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fluent in spoken English.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are interested in this opportunity, please send your CV and a brief statement (no more than 300 words) to Dr. Mai at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gengchenmai.github.io\/html\/recruit.html\">gengchen.mai@austin.utexas.edu<\/a>.
