It offers a unique opportunity to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Perform <strong>original mechanical experiments on snow<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Combine <strong>in-situ loading with 4D X-ray micro-tomography (3D + time)<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use advanced <strong>Digital Image \/ Volume Correlation (DIC\/DVC)<\/strong> and <strong>AI-assisted imaging<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Investigate the <strong>ductile-to-brittle transition<\/strong> and highly localized deformation mechanisms at the grain scale.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83c\udf0d <strong>World-class research environment<\/strong><br>The PhD will be conducted jointly at two leading laboratories in Grenoble:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Institute of Geosciences of the Environment (IGE)<\/strong> \u2013 internationally recognized for snow and ice mechanics,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>3SR Laboratory<\/strong> \u2013 a reference center for X-ray tomography, in-situ testing, and localized failure mechanisms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project benefits from a <strong>strong interdisciplinary supervisory team<\/strong> and close collaboration with national and international partners, with the possibility of a <strong>research secondment at SLF-WSL (Switzerland)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udcb0 <strong>What\u2019s in it for you?
