
Job description
The division of Energy Systems at the Department of Energy Technology, KTH, is looking for a 6 month full-time research engineer who shall support the integration of AI to aid our modelling work in the tools OnSSET, OnStove, and OSeMOSYS. The work is part of a the Climate Compatible Growth project, funded by the UKAID/FCDO. The ultimate goal of the effort is to deduce the potential for AI to aid in determining the most influential factors for (cost-) optimal solutions, and also link the energy system to water resources availability, as these resources to affect each other. The day-to-day work will consist in using AI techniques to explore geospatial and survey data for understand present distribution of technology use, and conditions for technology-switch – this for the Energy Access analyses. For the CLEWs framework, similarly AI techniques will be used to study the dynamics of water resources availability to connect to the integrated resources assessment modelling.

Qualifications
Requirements
- A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education) in the research subject or equivalent competence. (for example, KTH’s MSc in Sustainable Energy Engineering).
- Very good knowledge in English as the work is done in English.
Preferred qualifications
- We welcome experience with Python
- Knowledge of energy systems analysis and modelling, AI and machine learning for data analysis.
- Experience with the modelling tool OSeMOSYS for energy and CLEWs application
- Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality
