Tasks
The postdoc will conduct research within the newly established Smart Exploration Research Centre. A key component of the project is the development of seismic solutions using cutting-edge distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) methods for both depth targeting and site investigation, including mine waste. The postdoc will work within a larger research group with experts from different universities and industry partners. The postdoc will be responsible for promoting project activities through high-quality publications. It is also possible to be part of a series of geophysical prototype tests and validation work. The project includes a lot of field work and the postdoc should therefore be willing to spend time in the field for data collection.
Qualification requirements
Doctoral degree in geophysics, related geosciences, or a foreign degree that is considered equivalent to a doctoral degree in geophysics. The degree must be completed no later than the time the employment decision is made. Those who have completed their degree no more than three years ago should be considered. When calculating the three-year time frame, the starting point is the last date of application. If there are special reasons, such a degree may have been completed earlier. Special reasons refer to leave due to illness, parental leave, positions of trust within trade unions, etc.
Experience in imaging with seismic reflection data (active or noise interferometry), and data acquisition in distributed acoustic sensing (DAS), instrumentation and programming in Python (or equivalent required for the work) is a requirement, as is good knowledge of spoken and written English.
Desirable/meritorious in other respects
It is desirable if you are well-organized and good at multitasking, have knowledge of technical media, are open-minded and a team player with good social skills. A driver’s license is a merit.
